Year 5

I read Harry Potter- The order of the Phoenix this week.  It actually only took me a couple of days.  I didn't get much else done until I finished.  It was really good.  I've started looking into Harry Potter fanfiction now.

Marina knows how to freak me out.  Everything had gone well today and then after 10pm she was still awake and she was messing around in her room and she fell and banged her ribs on the foot board of her bed.  I should get her a new bed.  She always gets hurt on that footboard somehow.  She has a scrape on the skin and I guess we will see how bruised she is in the morning.

I should make up a list of my recommended fanfics someday.

I've decided not to put my art on my bloga anymore but I am putting it on my deviantart site at: http://cdkobasiuk.deviantart.com/

If you use them for anything let me know so I can see.  That would be fun.

My YUGIOH the Movie Review from AGV

 YU-Gi-OH The Movie

Yay! we went today to the theater. It was the perfect movie day. It was raining cats and dogs here. I Read a number of reviews over the weekend and I did hear that 'Yugioh' came in 4th this weekend at the box office. Not that I let any of that affect what I'm going to see but I will want to address a few points of a couple of reviews after I tell you what I thought.

The theater where we saw the film probably had about 30 kids and maybe 10-15 adults. At first I thought the film was going to be too loud but I quickly got over that because the higher volume drowned out the chatter and whinning of the rugrats.

Animation: The animation was equivalent to the TV show. The cards looked more real though (lots of money shots of said cards, can you say mechandising?).

Story: The plot was also on par with the TV show. They managed to make a new badguy who's been dead and nursing a grudge for 5000 years. I can't remember any glaring plot holes so I figure they did an alright job there. There were hardely any slow spots, Yugioh(the anime) is about the duels and action and that is what this movie is about too.

Characters: All the major characters make an appearance though a couple of second stringers don't get any dialogue. All the characterizations were true to the tv show also.

Music: Yugioh isn't know for it's soundtrack really. They put in one song during a dialogue free segment (those are rare in yugioh too) and used an old english track for the closing credits.

Monsters: The usual fantastical creatures that just keep getting stronger. I don't play the game so even though I enjoy the duels they never make intuitive sense to me like Pokemon battles do. ( Did I just type that?)

My favorite parts are the dialogue really. The trash talking, the snide comments, the movie spoofs. It was fun to see it so big in a theater instead of on the TV.

Now for the other half of the coin. If you don't know Yugioh and have never read the manga or watched the TV show (english or japanese version) seeing this movie would be a total waste. Sure they give you a quick run down of the Millenium puzzle and the vague history of the Pharaoh but that is about it. They open up with Pegasus and if you don't know the show you have no reason to believe that he is anything more than a wealthy and snooty fop. Also toward the climax Tea/Anzu brings up an old friendship symbol which would mean nothing if you hadn't been there before.

Ok, now for some of the reviews I read. The first I read in one of the local papers actually made sense They basically said that this is a show for the fans so unless you are a fan it won't mean much to you. Which I totally agree with. The second review I read was by a child reviewer in the same newspaper and they obviouly know about Yugioh and they enjoyed the movie. Sounds sane so far right? Well, they were the exception.

The Catholic News service said this:.........."Yu-Gi-Oh!" is a dizzying, disjointed mess. The story is nonexistent and the Japanese animation is sketchy at best. "Yu-Gi-Oh!" makes those annoying "Pokemon" films seem almost Oscar-worthy.

Some parents may raise sincere concerns about the occult symbolism of the tarotlike deck. The movie clearly distinguishes between "good" and "evil." Still, it is best left to parents to decide what they feel is suitable viewing for their children..........Due to animated violence and some scary images, the USCCB Office for Film & Broadcasting classification is A-II -- adults and adolescents.

The reviewer obviously doesn't know Yugioh. I have no worries about all those kids becoming Satanists and when I asked my 7 almost 8 year old daughter if anthing struck her as scarey she just laughed at me.

An even more amusing review came from CHUCK GRAHAM of the
GANNETT NEWS SERVICE: "..........If Yu-Gi-Oh is a Japanese invention, why do all the characters look European-American? One character, Maximillion Pegasus, even has mannerisms and a haircut reminiscent of Michael Jackson. Every person we see definitely has that same cute little, perky Michael Jackson nose."

My question is why do they send reviewers that know nothing about Jpanese animation to review a Japanese animated movie? I wouldn't presume to review, say.....abstract art, seeing as which I have no knowlege or liking for that art style.

The final review that had me shaking my head is at this addy - http://www.gradingthemovies.com/html/mv/gtm_mv001238.shtml

The best part was this:" ............ The greater worry is Pegasus, a major character with a taste for wine coolers. In view of the target age for this film, it seems inappropriate to be pushing a product considered by some to be a gateway into harder alcohol.

Then there’s the role women play in this strange land. In the “real” world, all of the people playing the card game are male, except for Yugi’s friend Tea. She’s described on the Yu-Gi-Oh website as a “cheerleader,” who roots for the boys. The only other females are some of the strange card-incarnations who (in typical Japanese anime fashion) are big-busted short-skirted creatures. (In a more bizarre moment, one of these girls injects a fluid into a boy’s rear using a huge hypodermic needle.) "

I guess kids aren't supposed to know that adults drink alcohol. We all know the weaknesses of females in anime I don't want to get into that here but the part about the card giving a needle in the tush seemed just like silly kid fun to me, I don't get what was so bizarre about it considering all the fantasy that Yugioh is steeped in.

I think I've ranted enough. So in summary. If you are a fan you'll like it, if not don't bother. The studio did a fair job and didn't crucify anything and most reviews aren't worth the paper or the pixels.

Never a dull moment

I got Diane (Michaels Neice ) to babysit again on friday so I could go mountain biking with Michael.  Well , this time Marina wa a pest and called me on my cell a dozen times before I got home.  Nothing made her happy. The ride went well though.  I made it past the mogul from hell for the second time and i didn't hit that tree in the Sandbox that I've hit every time this year.

Belmont Racetrack

We went to Belmont today.  We picked 3 horses for each of the 9 races.  We won 3 times.  Nothing big.  It was interesting though.  It wasn't very crowded.  There were lots of families with children.  We ended up moving around a lot and sitting on all three levels and in different places.  We checked out the horses and ate lunch and snacks. It was a very nice day and we had a lot of fun.

Ice Skating and Bowling

Today Michael and Marina ice skated for 2 hours then Michael and I bowled 2 games, I had a 162 and a 13?. Not to shabby.  Then we did the arcade at Sports Plus.

After dinner we played Uno Attack.  It had to be the longest single game we've ever played, we had to reshuffle the deck twice before Michael finally won.

First Day of Michaels Vacation

We went and had the tire fixed on the truck and then we went out to Atlantis Marine World in Riverhead.  We weren't sure if we were going to take the tour boat or not.  At noon we went to McDonalds for lunch then we went to Out East Family Fun .  We played 18 holes of mini golf using a gift certificate Marina got for her Communion.  Then we went back to Atlantis for a little while.

Michael went biking and I did a few chores.

My itching wasn't too bad during the day but at night it picks up.

We went mountain biking on the family trail in Rocky Point today with Marina.  Marina did a lot of complaining and a little falling.  It was my first time on the bike since November.  I was pleased by how I felt after being sick and everything.  We saw a skunk and a bunch of Pink Lady's Slippers (Cypripedium acaule). See this link to see and read about them. http://www.fcps.k12.va.us/StratfordLandingES/Ecology/mpages/pink_ladys_slipper.htm  They are protected by law in New York State.

Then we went to my parents for dinner.

First Fishing Trip of the Season

Michael caught the only fish.  It was a plenty big fluke.  Marina got the net under it but couldn't lift it up it wsso heavy.  The weather was beautiful.  3 seperate boats rode so close to us I could see the zits on the drivers.  Idiots.

We also saw an Osprey sitting on a branch near its nest on Patersquash Island.  A pair of Oystercatchers on the shore of Patersquash Island too.  Along with a bunch of other birds.  Marina saved a starfish Michael cought and Michael brought up 1 crab.  I had no action but I took a number of short naps and had 2 beers. :)

I panfried the fish with breadgrumbs in olive oil for dinner.

Next week Marina is not allowed to stay up till 11:30 watching anime with me on Toonami and Adult swim.  She was nasty to my mother after church.

I really enjoyed Gundam Seed this week, it was #6.  Those guys on the Artimis shor got what they had comming to them.  They were just asking for it with their arrogance and nasty attitude.  I am also enjoying the end of the Dark Tornament in YuYu Hakusho.

I finally got all the Naruto eps on CD and the manga too.  Now I have to go thru Marina's extra drive and clean up my bit torrent downloads in there to save space.  We layed out our plans for the summer.  Lots planned.

We put in the vegetable garden yesterday.  This is probably the latest I've ever planted.  We went to the ecology site and got wood chips too and I finished mulching two of the gardens.  I still have to finish up the flowerbed by the front door and plant the dianthus I got from Keith and Kevin.

    by L.M. Montgomery
Bright, chipper, vivid, but with the emotional fortitude of cottage cheese, you make quite an impression on everyone you meet. You're impulsive, rash, honest, and probably don't have a great relationship with your parents. People hurt your feelings constantly, but your brazen honestly doesn't exactly treat others with kid gloves. Ultimately, though, you win the hearts and minds of everyone that matters. You spell your name with an E and you want everyone to know about it.

    Favorite Power Puff Girls Episode

My favorite Power Puff Girls episode is 'Super Zeros'.  This episode highlights the girls differences in taste in comics.  I find it fun because I started out liking the beautiful and gimick riden super heros like Blossom likes and then I learned to enjoy the angst ridden superheros like Buttercup likes and now I enjoy Japanese comics like Bubbles likes, and I have even dabbled in newspaper serials like the Proffessor enjoys.

    Fan = Fanatic

I am so hooked on Naruto, I've seen the first 50 episodes and I just finished spending more than 200 hours with a cable modem downloading the next 10 episodes.  I bought some crap on Ebay yesterday too.  4 pins and a headband and ring set.  I found a great Naruto fan site too.  You just have to go to the Fun section and read the "You know you watch too much Naruto" list and the "things Naruto characters would never say" list.  I was laughing so hard I had tears.  I sent in a suggestion for the 'too much Naruto' list too.  Here is the link:

You know you watch too much DragonBall Z if you make jokes like "How many DBZ characters does it take to screw in a lightbulb?"

You know you watch too much DragonBall Z if you know the answer is "1, but it takes 5 episodes to screw it in."

    The worst anime ever

I've always wondered where the crappy anime was.  Even if I wasn't in love with a series (ie. most mecha, and some Gundum)  I could watch it and find something to amuse myself in it.  Until tonight.  I watched the first 2 episodes of Maria-sama ga Mitaru.  It was dull, dull, dull.  Holy crow, I'll have to list my complaints.

    1.  The characters made me want to drown them.  Two dimesional and snooty and stupid.

    2.  The school, if it really existed, should be burned to the ground.  What a crock their  heriaracle system is.

    3.  The dialogue was Booooring, *yawn*

    4.  It was no fun and didn't make me care about anything at all.

    5. Yuri alert!  If it was yaoi I could have stomached it but the yuri made me ill.  Especially in the 'catholic' setting.

I need to wash my brain out with some DBZ after that.

Red Scarf Girl by Ji-Li Jiang

Yesterday  I worked the bookkoutlet at Marina's school  Things were slower than they have been in previously when I ran the bookoutlet so I started reading a book I had bought for Marina and I at the last bookoutlet. Red Scarf Girl by Ji-Li Jiang.  It is the biography of a 12 yearold girl during the Cultural Revolution in China , 1966.  I found it quite riveting and interesting.  Ms Jiang explained many aspects of life in China at the time and presented the reader with an intimate view of how the Cultural Revolution affected the man and child on the street.  Ms. Jiang gives one summary thus:'This is the most frightening lesson of the Cultural Revolution:  Without a sound leagal system, a small group or even a single person can take control of an entire country.'

The book is too mature for Marina yet but by the time she is in 4th or 5th grade  I figure it will be just right.  I finished the book in one day myself.

More Soy and good web pages

We had the bar-b-que riblets for dinner last night.  Michael really enjoyed them.  I liked them and of course Marina wouldn't touch them.  Today I made beef teriyaki with soy burgers.  That turned out good too.  Unfortunately Marina, who loves regular beef teriyaki wasn't crazy about it.

    I found a really good website: http://members.aol.com/swankivy2/

    Go

When playing go resentments must clear away and thoughts
become like the moon arising at night . . .
They are in the ocean of endless births and deaths,
and the go stones are like the numberless grains of sand upon the beach.
Even though they struggle, their hearts remain gentle . . .
In the game their hands reveal benevolence.
The mantra Aum reverberates in the sound of the pieces striking the board.
Before our eyes the boundaries of life and death become visible,
    the pattern of Nirvana itself.
The white and black of the pieces are the colors of day and night.

Had a heck of a scare today

It was after 3 pm and I saw the buses come down the street like they always do but then Marina didn't come in.  I look ou and saw Chris the kid across the street walking Lee's dog and I went out and asked him if he took the bus home and he said yes.  I asked him if Marina was on the bus and he said yes.  Now I was panicing.  So I ran in and tried Glorias house, thinking Marina might have done something she shouldn't. There was no answer so I left Michael a message and jumped in the car and rode the two blocks to Gloria's house, she was just going inside. I asked her if Marina was with her and she said something, but heaven knows I can't understand the girl sometimes.  I think she said Marina had gone back to school.  So I raced home and just as I was pulling up to the driveway I see Marina going in the front door. I nicked the front gate with the car but it should be ok.  Any way , I ran in the house and was all worked up and hyperventilating and I ended up scaring Marina.  It turns out that they had a substitute bus driver and she didn't remind Marina to get off at her stop and Marina wasn't paying attention so she stayed on and then she realized she had missed her stop and told the bus driver and the bus driver came back around and dropped her off.

    That was too scarey.

    Book Review: Megatokyo #2

Let me preface this by saying I love this online comic.  I loved the first book  that was printed.

Megatokyo#2  Is the continuation of the story of two friends who on a lark end up in Tokyo and then get stranded because they have no money to buy tickets to come back home to the States.  The story weaves between Piro's angst ridden attempts to earn the needed money while making a number of female friends, all of who don't understand him (or so he likes to think)  and Largo's alcohol drenched , fantasy laced mishaps as he makes friends and enemies whike driving Piro nuts.

There are tons of geek references, internet jokes, gamer gags and anime fanboy logic throughout the story.  The art is interesting and pleasing with a japanese manga style.  The story is fun and multi layered.  The characters are all unique and not too stereotypical in a manga/ anime way.

The book has an extra section of a short novelization of the RPG that Largo and Piro play.  It is really good.   I would like to see more.

I've read all these comics before but being able to read them straight through was fun and it kept me laughing outloud (much to my kids annoyance).  The jokes are that funny, even on the 4th go around I have to belly laugh.

A very good read and well worth the money.  So if yo uread this go to your local comic shop and tell them you want Megatokyo #2 from Dark Horse Books.  DHB  will be reprinting #1 soon too so I'll probably get it for the extras.

    Don't forget to visit Megatokyo.com .

On Friday night Marina and I were going xmas shopping.  We get to the corner of Floyd and Montauk Highways and the light turns red.  We need to make a right turn onto Montauk but there is a "no turn on red sign".  Well two SUV's behind me start beeping.  I point to the sign and they just pull out and go around me into oncoming traffic .  There is never a cop around when you need one.  That is how somany people around here get killed in car crashes.  Idiots.  Needless to say they were both men.

We got lots of snow on Fri and Sat.  It ended up running into at least a foot of snow.  I went shopping for xmas today.  I went to the mall. Yuck.  I did finish my parents so that is good.  Now I just have to get the church gifts and wrap everything.

    New Christmas tree

I've been looking for years to replace our really nice but incredibly wide xmas tree.  We got it for our second xmas and it had all the branches that you have to put on and it was 7.5 feet and maybe 4.5 feet wide at the bottom.  What a monster.  So I ordere thru a catalogue a pop up tree with built in lights that was only 30" across at the bottom and 6 ft tall.  We put it up and decorated it today.  It looks really good and doesn't take up half the living room.  Ill post pictures of it when I take some.

    Code and dirt clods

I've finally found a CSS setup that I can use for my Days of the Week prayer pages.  I started transcribing the pages over yesterday.  I'll save all the fancy graphic stuff for the TCG pages.

Went to the dr today so I could get my prescription refilled.  They were having the Center Moriches Street Fair today so I went to the Preysbiterian church (I think) across the street and blew $10 on some old stuff.  2 pairs of rice dishes with cina and Taiwan on them , a plate, a piece of aluminum , a cool picture frame and a pair of decorative small shelves.

This afternoon I tore up the iris bed yet again.  This is becoming a semiannual event for me.  I cant keep the damn grass and weeds out of there.  This time I am going to get very nasty about it.  After I raked it out and filled two paper yard bags with stuff Michael mowed it for me then I started breaking up the trf( the weeds made it so hard)  MIchael finished that for me.  Then I pulled out the few bulbs/rhizomes that I thought I could salvage and then Michael dugg out 3-4 inches of dirt and took all the grass with it and put it in the spots he is filling in Bruno's old yard.  Now I can take a portion of the 20 yards of sterile fill Michael got delivered and refill the garden.

    My hubby, Mr. Liberal

    Funny story:

We were watching the Yankees game last night at dinner when a commercial came on that caught my attention.  It was the ATT mobile commercial where the man and woman are together but not talking(obviously, had a fight) and then the guy wises up and text messages the woman while she is at work to appologize.  After it was over I blurted out something like 'wow that was a commercial with an interracial couple in it'.  Michael says no it wasn't.  I say ya it was she was obviously asian and the guy was obviously caucasian.  My husband (God Bless him) says "that isn't interracial, I thought you meant black and white".  "Michael", I say, "asian and european is interracial, what would my father say? and it was a good commercial but I'm sure someone in the midwest is calling ATT right now to complain."  I started laughing and said he was such a liberal and that is why I loved him.

We went to Micky D's for lunch with Michaels parents then the 3 of us went to Dave and Busters for a while.  After that I dragged them into Famous Footware andi tried on 4 pairs nad bought nothing.  oh well.

I rode the 11.5 mile course last night in my fastest time yet. 1hr 20 min.  I averaged 8.5 mph.  I only dropped the bide once(I remained up right), was going fast and nearly went into one of the black diamond areas.  I screwed up only 1 mogule ( that damn on with the roots) and I kissed only 3 trees, I was a grab, one was  bump and one was a knuckle scrape.  Soon I will have to add back in that part me and Elean a skip.  She won't like the idea but I'll work it out.

Saw a mother deer and a baby running , I miss took them for dogs again at first, those tails are a riot.

    Mountain Biking

With the sun going down early now and everything I decided to start before everyone else tonight.  I dropped Marina off at my mothers at about 4-4:15 then I went straight up to Rocky Point.  I got htere and the parking lot was really full.  I got my stuff together and started at about 4:45.  3 guys past me politely on the trail.  I saw one bow hunter, one deer running like heck thru the woods.  Her tail was sooooo puffed out.  I also came across a ground squirrel / ground hog on the path.  It was obviously injured/sick so I stopped and shooed him off the path by making a bunch of noise before I continued on.  I got done at about 6:15.  There was still light so that was good.  I had geared down from my last ride at RP.  I still missed a couple of mogules and I sat down once in the Sandbox.  I did have more control around the curves though and didn't kiss so many trees.  It was chilly and I had a hard time warming up so I felt tight and stiff the whole ride.  I haven't ridden in two weeks.

    C.L.I.M.B. Picnic

I got up today and rode the 7 mile loop at Cathedral Pines averaging 7.2 mph.  Then we went to Southhaven Park and had the picnic.  I brought a lot of supplementary food which was good , they had lots of food , but I am fussy.  Marina rode well at Cathedral Pines and learned how to bike down a hill using her brake.  We played some games at the picnic and took a walk to the lake with the geese, which Marina fed and got scared of.  There was an Indian group (from India) having a picnic and I got to check out a lot of Kameez outfits and I think I know what I want.  Something pastel and bright and fancy.

We joined C.L.I.M.B.   and Michael bought me a C.L.I.M.B. t-shirt.  Man am I tired now.  Marina didn't eat much at the picnic (of course) and I gave her ramen noodle soup when we got home.

    The remodel from Hell

I finally finished painting Marina's room.  This is the remodel we started wayback in April.  Her room hadn't been done since way before she was born so when we found out that the roof need replacing we decided to put a skylight in her room and then fix all the holes in the plaster on the ceiling and on the wall from the bathroom remodel 2 years ago.  Well the roof only got done in July and I am still working on her room.  I have almost all of her stuff spread throughout the house and it is driving me crazy.  I have to get this all done before her birthday in the end of October.  We ususally have a house full then.  Next big thing is to paint her furniture.  They are almost all hand-me-downs.  Most of which were mine.

    Lupin X Jigen.

Most fangirls scream. Your relationship is a shaky one. Jigen obviously loves Lupin, but Lupin just wants to play most of the time. Jigen would rather have a loyal partner. Lupin, well, Lupin just wants some tail ever once in a while.

    Feelings

    You represent... desire.
You sure are motivated.  You have a definite knack<br>for getting what you want.  You always put your own interests before those of others, and you almost always find youself being satisfied Though you have determination, try some compassion.  Putting others first occassionally<br>can get you even more satisfying relationships.

I was thinking of redesigning the layout/look of my blog again.  I would like to go back to a Japanese theme a little maybe make it seasonal and make it easy to change according to the seasons.  I also want to change my dedication and fix some bugs.

    My Blackout Story

The lights went out here, boom, no tv, so I went outside with the kid and did my orchids for a while, didn't think anything of it, we lost power the week before and we do all the time (LIPA sucks)  anyway then I figure I'll go up to the grocery and get her some food(she was grossing that I had no ramen in the house for her).  The grocery is in a different grid area than our house and I just assumed they would have lights.

So we get up there and no lights and tons of traffic, had to take a back route out of the area. So I figure it was a couple of grid areas and I'd go west to the next town over do some shopping and be back in the neighborhood when the electricity came on (really bad traffic).

I go a few more miles and still no lights , that is when I put my foot down and put on the radio(Marina won't let me listen to the radio in the car) . Well that is when I found out about the black out, It took me over an hour to get home from there.  Poopies.

We got our power back after 1 am that morning.  Not bad really.  I gave Marina a geography lesson using the atlas and the globe so she would know where the power was out.

    Suffering

    Oh the humanity!

I spent the day sorting and cleaning up my daughters toys that are all located in the living room right now while we redecorate her room.  What a nightmare.  I still have a lot to do.  Maybe one more day.  You wouldn't believe the crap she saves.  Wrappers, broken toys, scraps of papers, empty boxes, the list is endless.

    Coming Out Ride

Today I went mountain biking for the first time with people other than Michael.  It was my 5th time on the trails and we rode in Rocky Point  We did a 10 mile ride.  I rode with Patti and Eleana.  I ran into a tree once and I fell down once.  Eleana said the tree was done gracefully.  The fall came as I was going upa a steep mgule which turned sharply to the left all at the same time.  What screwed me up was there as a root knot partway up the mogul and I couldn't not hit it so I went down.  I got a little light scraping on my left leg just below the knee.  I believe I saw a snowy owl flying thru the woods at one point.  I was riding along and looking up ahead at the trail when I saw a large white and slightly tan bird gliding thru the woods in my line of sight.  After the ride we were all shooting the breeze and there was a bat flying over us doing insect duty.

    Nature

Did lots this weekend.  But the coolest thing was finding a very small toad (about the size of a dime) on the sand on Fire Island.  It was a speckled brown and was hopping toward some green growth and was on a sandy path.  So I carefully lifted him up and brought him to the edge of the vegetation so he wouldn't get stepped on or eaten.

    Sea Sick

Oh man ,what an evening.  Michael thought it would be fun to take the boat to Patchogue tonight to watch they fireworks with Marina.  I thought it was a good idea and Marina was interested, so after dinner we got ready.  We got dressed and I packed up warm clothes for the cool night air and trip back.  Michael and Marina went out and bought munchies.  I packed up a few other things and we left at 7:30pm

The fireworks weren't due to start until 9:30 but we wanted to give ourselves enough time to boat there and to mark the buoys wit hthe GPS for  the ride home .We were in the middle of Bellport Bay when I got queasy.  I figured it was from riding and playing with the GPS, so I went out onto the deck and Michael drove and handled the GPS.  It was windy and a little bumpy by that point.

When We hit Patchogue Bay it got even rougher  and I could feel my stomach acting up this is when Marina started crying that she wanted to go home.  She kept saying she was scared.  Well with me fighting my nauseous and trying to calm Marina we got to the right place and man, was it blowing.  There was a blood red sun setting and a huge full moon rising.  It was pretty though it was hard to appreciate it at the time. It was only like 8:30pm.

Marina was having fits and I was turning green.  Michael got really mad and finally decided to turn around and go home. It was a bumpy ride home too but not as bad, thought there was less wind because we were going with the wind so I couldn't get all the fresh air I liked to help my sea sickness out.

We got home in the house at about 9:00 and I put some stuff away and gave Marina a shower and she was in bed by 9:30pm.  I was still queasy.  I took a shower and layed down for a little while and felt good enough to get up and write this but my head still feels funny now at almost 11:00pm.  What a night.

    trying to get rhythm

Drink of the Day: Galliano Sour = 1 part Galliano + 1 part Scotch + 1 part Sour Mix

Review: Good, cut the scotch nicely

Song of the Day: Hungry Like the Wolf  by Reel Big Fish

    Job of the Day: Laundry

Boggle of the day:  Why is Marina's new blog 100 years behind??

The RPG with me staring as the libidinous Lupin III is going well.  It is kind of strange writing smut in tandem with someone else.  Especially since I've never written smut before.

    scotch and other booze

It is funny.  Not all alcohol is created equal.  It has nothing to doo with proof or the volume consumed either.  Tonight brought home this point.  I made Michael and I Affinities.

rec.= equal parts scotch, red vermouth and white vermouth with some bitters

I drink which only had 1 shot of scotch and one shot of each of the red and white and I was more giddy and buzzed then I got after countless drinks with vodka that I had at the wedding we went to on the 4th.

    busy busy

Spent last week running around with Michael while he was on vacation.   Marina started Swimming lessons too.  She has 3 more classes to go.

Jubulation!  The roofers came yesterday and started the roof.  They finished up today. Now we have a new roof and 3 new skylights.  It took me some time to clean up the upstairs under the skylights last night so we could go to bed, but it is worth it.

Been doing oodles of laundry all week.  Still tons to go and lots of bed linens because of the skylight work.  I did catchup with the kitchen on Monday though so that is good.  I have a really big list of things to do yet.

    Sun Burnt

Today Turned out better weather wise than the initial forcast predicted.

Marina and I wore matching blue and white stripped skirts to chrch today with shite T-shirts and white sandles.   Marina calls it being twins.  I had made the skirts 2 years ago but finally Marina's fits her alright now.

When we got home form church Michael helped Marina practice riding two wheels again   while I got the food together.  I wore  my new tw  piece tank top bathing suit.  It was comfortable.  I did well with the sunscreen on Marina and I except for thefact that I totally forgot about my back.  It is really burnt.

We got home about 8:00 pm and i made us a quick light supper, then it was showers all around.  I' tried something different with my new hair tonight too.

I started a new Yahoo Group.   I couldn't find any that delt with powerblog so I started one.  I'll troll my other groups that deal with blogs and stuff to see if anyone wants to join.

My poison ivy is still really itchy on my stomach.  I put lots of salt water on it at the beach.  I hope it dries up soon.

    Saturday Doings

Read all of July's Shonen Jump this morning.  Then I got to watch a new YuGiOh Actually I saw two new YugiOh's the first was a repeat but I hadn't seen it and it had a whole lotta Kaiba in it so it was really good.

Did some housework.  Then I helped Michael put the new GPS anntena on the boat.  I made the fish he caught for dinner.  Butter and white wine with green onions and Tarragon with bread crumbs and baked in the oven.  He said it was really good, Marina didn't care for it but she did like the turnip greens. You cna't make everyone happy.

After Dinner Michael suggested that Marina try to ride two wheels again.  She agreed and this time she started to get the hang of it.  Michae ldid a lot of running along side of her.  She really only fell once and didn't get hurt.  Michael said we will do it agian tomorrow.

I am in the middle of packing for the beach right now. I had to print out more of my packing lists 'cause I couldn't find the old ones.  The misc. stuff nad food stuff is still to go.  The food needs to be planned but not pack ofcourse until after church tomorrow.

We'll see if I have to post anywhere later.

Yesterday Marina actually got her hair cut right ater I had mine done.  I had it chopped short and layered for a change, she just had a trim.

The we went to this new game store by the hairdresser and bought the Playstation InuYasha game.  It is cool.  A lot of it is still in the japanese.  This blog is aboutto be rolled out and i will set up Marina's for her this week too.

    Online test

    http://www.mindmedia.com/brainworks/first-paragraph.jsp

Catherine, you are somewhat left-hemisphere dominant and show a preference for visual learning, although not extreme in either characteristic. You probably tend to do most things in moderation, but not always.

Your left-hemisphere dominance implies that your learning style is organized and structured, detail oriented and logical. Your visual preference, though, has you seeking stimulation and multiple data. Such an outlook can overwhelm structure and logic and create an almost continuous state of uncertainty and agitation. You may well suffer a feeling of continually trying to "catch up" with yourself.

Your tendency to be organized and logical and attend to details is reasonably well-established which should afford you success regardless of your chosen field of endeavor. You can "size up" situations and take in information rapidly. However, you must then subject that data to being classified and organized which causes you to "lose touch" with the immediacy of the problem.

Your logical and methodical nature hamper you in this regard though in the long run it may work to your advantage since you "learn from experience" and can go through the process more rapidly on subsequent occasions.

You remain predominantly functional in your orientation and practical. Abstraction and theory are secondary to application. In keeping with this, you focus on details until they manifest themselves in a unique pattern and only then work with the "larger whole."

With regards to your career choices, you have a mentality that would be good as a scientist, coach, athlete, design consultant, or an engineering technician. You can "see where you want to go" and even be able to "tell yourself," but find that you are "fighting yourself" at the darndest times.

    Happy Anniversary to Me

Today is my Wedding Anniversary  Michael took off from work  We went mountain biking. This time we did

the main trail at Rocky Point. I did about 12 miles in 2.5 hours. I had one

complete fall and I had some troubles with the mougles and with some of the tight turns.

The big fall happened toward the end when I was tired. There was this narrow

pass with a double mougle and inbetween the mougles wa this ditch that ran back intot the

woods from run off. Well I made it up[ the first mogule then stalled out inbetween

and then I lost control of the bike and one thing led to another and I ended up more

upside down than right side up in the ditch , on top of a pine sappling wit hthe bike

ontop of me and i couldn't get any purchase toget up. Boy was I tangled. I

ache all over now, and have a scrape on my back.

We went out for dinner to T.G.I. Fridays with Marina. I just

posted my first RPG post for Strike Down. I made Lupin sound cool if I do

say so myself. Worked on my photoblog today too. I found a good program that

makes photo albums really nicely. Taped RK, have to tape Adult Swim and then to bed.

    Dragon ogf Doom

As Zennigata would say - crap, crap , Crap, Crap, CRAP!!  Ok, I got to tape the new Kenshin, even though I missed half the important dialogue due to ringing phones and screaming children.   I'll watch it again tonight.  I watched Dragon of Doom in the Japanese with Subs this afternoon (only parts) while I had lunch.   I like the Japanes e voices best then the Pinoneer voices then the Funi voices.   Oh well.  I have to tape a new anime at midnight tonight on adult swim.   No info on it yet.

Marina's teacher says she is doing fine in school and isn't having any troubles.  I am going nuts.  Went to Costco's and bought food, bookks, PS2 games and a DVD Castle in the Sky.  More anime , wheeee.

    What a Weekend

WOW  What   weekend.  We got so much done and a lot of it was fun.  Saturday morning Michael took me mountain biking with my new bike.   We road the family trail in Rocky Point for almost an hour. Michael said I did really well.  Then we stopped at his parents then we went out to do errands.  We bought a PS2 finally.  Marina picked out a Scooby Doo game.  I got DBZ Bodukai ( of course).  Michael picked out a bass fishing game and I got a DVD, Dragon of Doom a Lupin the Third  movie.

Now I have a new crisis. Marina had a panic attack on the bus stop again.   She says she doesn't feel well and doesn't want to go to school.   Last time she did this she spent the whole day in bed with no TV or toys and didn't complain.   I'm going to drive her to school today and talk to the teacher.   This has got to be dealt with now.

    What a Mess

I'm still trying to figure out what that big yellow thing in the sky is.   Field Day was cancelled today because of the wet fields.  The makeup day is next Tuesday.

I am still sneezing and my upper sinuses feel itchy and wrong.  I wonder if Hayfever has struck.  Still jerking around with the layout for my blog.   I am not happy with it totally yet.  Almost caught up wit hthe dreaded laundry.  What a mess, a little cold and boy do I fall behind.  Michael wants to go mountain biking tomorrow.  It will be my first time on the trails and my first long ride with my new bike.  I'll take pics if I remember.  I am so out of shape.  I did a little execise this morning and I felt it.  A few days off with a fever and I fall apart.

Last night I was chatting with 5 people at once.  Boy was I confused.   Kinomi showed me her latest artwork.  She goes on on how simple it is, and how she did it.  It was extrodinary , I was so impressed.  She just blows me away with that stuff.  Tekky nagged me into doing more on his board: http://obsolence.com/resonance/  .   I'm going to try.  Gotta get things done before Marina gets home, I haven't done much today.

Ok so my timestamps don't work right.  More crap to fix.  You may notice that I have my music portion up now though.

Michael has a stomache flu.  I still have the head cold and Marina is getting better, she is due home soon.

I did some studing on Globalization yesterday.  I read some stuf both for and against and have decided that I am for Globalization.  I've been reading a lot on the web about the worlds views on the US and I must say that I am disappointed.   They don't understand us at all and we go all out trying to understand everyone all the time  and no one tries to understand us.

    My Bad

What a weekend.  I knew Marina was going to come down sick when here friends were over on Friday and they were coughing and sniffling.  First her throat hurt now her nose is running.  I'm right behind her with a sore throat.

There was so much rain last night and today.  In the morning my father-in-laws rain gauge said 4 inches.  We probably got over 5 inches all weekend.   I found the kind of phone my mother wanted for her birthday on line and ordered it.   It was at this cool company  www.the phoneguys.com .  It is white and hangs on the wall and has a hand cord and programmable numbers and a speakerphone.   Went to my mothers for dinner tonight for her birthday too.  Marina had an anxiety attach.  She had too many chips for lunch and was feeling queasy.  So of course she panicked and wouldn't eat any dinner and was a nervous wreck for a little while.  She of course felt fine (not counting the runny nose) by the time we left.   I gave her some antihistamine before bed so she would sleep.

Michael scolded me last night about not keeping track of the money I spent, because he was doing his money chores and needed to know what I had spent on Dr.s in the last two weeks.  Then today he complained about my mother making plans for Marina during his vacation this summer.

We tried to get to see "Finding Nemo" this afternoon after church but of course it was sold out.  Marina was bummed so I suggested a board game and soda and chips(my bad).  We had fun in the afternoon playing  Mouse Trap.  Michael had beer and chips, I just had beer.  We have to do our Sunday night weigh-in yet. :P

I was working on making a music thingey for my blog.  Using the Winamp3  "What's Playing " plug in.  I had to map a drive to the server over the network but now it works.  I just have to re think my blog page layout and work on the appearance of the music list.  I have to scale down the size of my fonts a real lot again.  I could put so much more on my blog page if I did that.

    Blogs and Shirts

I have become addicted to reading other peoples blogs. All kinds of things, smart, dull, cranky, funny, depressing , homely too. Then I remembered (code for: Michael reminded me) that I had to iron shirts for him for work. I know it sounds sexist...........I iron my husbands shirts. But take it from me it is the lesser of many evils. My mother in law only recently stopped ironing MIchaels shirts for him even though we've been married 14 yrs. I suck at ironing but he is way worse than me. I stay at home and he works. I make him do yucky things like the garbage and oil changes on the car. Ironing doesn't seem so bad then. I believe in a division of labor. Someone has to do it, and it beats unclogging the sewer line when that gets backed up.

    Weekend

Busy weekend. My repaired harddrive came on fri. so Michael spent 12 hours installing it, formating it and working out the buggs that went wit hthe n ew cordless keyboard and mouse I got for xmas. The gremilins at one point jumped from my computer to his and then back again. We thought we had sent them all packing until tonight when Marina turned on her computer and it went haywire. At first it wouldn't boot up then the keyboard wouldn't work. We are still not entirely sure what went wrong there. Michael planns on reformatting her computer next so that is when he will have to iron out those problems. As for my machine, I think I have all the software back on it that I need. Now I will have to clean the foyer, where the computers are all housed and start my auctions again. After tomorrow. Tues. is Michael's 41st birthday so I do not think I will get any serious work done. Have a lot of taping to do tonight too. We had Rob Roys on Sat. before dinner and Yesterday we had Northern Lights = rum, triple sec and champagne with orange peel. They were good. The Rob Roys were strong the Northern LIghts were light. Had a nice chat with a girl online about parents and discipline tonight too. I made window decorations for the Lunar New Year using Chinese papercuts and clear contact paper tonight. I use six dragon dance motifs. I have the red envelopes and gifts to put in them ready. I have a hanging decoration too. In the mail are two paper fans for decoration and I just won the cutest set of chinese style mini lights. I hope I get them in time for the New Year. We all went bowling today. Marina did really well considering she can hardly lift the lightest ball in the alley. I did pretty well myself. I made soup with udon for dinner, Marina helped. Chicken stock, carrots, onions, diakon radish, shreaded cabbage, japanese soysauce, mirin and ginger paste. I put the udon in the bowls then put that all on top. Boy was it good. I really am enjoying my new keyboard and mouse. All the extra buttons are a blast. Thanks Santa! Almost thru the Fellowship of the Ring. Still have lots of comics to catch up on. Marinating some deer meat. We got it from some friends of ours. I'll report on how it goes when we eat it in the next few days.

    Michael away

Wow, I did it. I actually got Marina's room totally clean. I removed 5 large black garbage bags of stuff from her room. 4 of those were actually garbage. It was a horror. The kitchen is still a mess. Michael called tonight too. He had a good day skiing. He is really tired now. He said it was really cold on the ski lifts today. Marina was in rare form today when she got in from school. She spent a half hour crying and screaming at me. She finally calmed down and she had a snack and did her homework. I was watching the euronews during lunch today. One story was funny. There is the international Mime festival in England right now. They were saying how very little funding for Mime art comes from Britain. It must be an english speaking prejudice against mimes or something, thats what I figure anyway. TLotR is going well too. I'm up to the part when the Nine are getting ready to leave Rivendell. I'm taking my time so I can appreciate it more. I typed in more of the dialogue for my fanfic yesterday. I have to start going thru it and writing the descriptions and stuff. I read a really great mushy DBZ fanfic today too. It was by Kinomi it was called "Suspicions". It was from Krillians POV. I'm behind in reading my comics. I should try and read some tomorrow. Oh, I have been trying out new mixed drinks since I got my bartenders guide for my birthday. Today I made a Biondina, which is equal parts triple sec and anisette. It was good. It was good cut with a little seltzer too. The last two I made were 1. a Fig Leaf which is 1.5 ozs rum, 1 oz sweet red vermouth and 3/4 oz lime juice, bitter but good. 2. South Express which is made of equal parts kirsch, dry vermouth and sweet red vermouth. I thought it was drinkable with ice. Back to work.

    Grand Opening

Happy New Year !!! Today is the grand opening of my blog. I intend to be serious now that I have it all formated the way I want. Michael left for Vermont today. He won a free 4 day ski trip on the radio back in Dec. I absolutely refused to go. The drive alone would have killed me then I would have been put dead into the cold storage. I hate the snow, I hate the cold, I hate the ice...........I hate winter. So I told him to take some friends and have a good time. Though I question anyones sanity who went with him. I just hope I don't have to kill my kid while her father is away. Michael usually has to referee our arguments. I watched episodes 4-6 of Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 last night while I folded laundry. It was good. I think I know who the old goul is running the robot factories. His assistant is a kinky SOB too. I'm also re watching Cowboy Bebop, which I have incomplete on tape. Jet is still my favorite character. We would get along fine in the kitchen, I cook without meat by choice alot, so his bell peppers and beef (sans beef) would be fine by me. I have so much to do but my goals this week are to catch up with the cleaning before my hard drive returns and I have to go back to work and to start typing in the next chapter to my fan fic. I wrote out the dialogue while riding on the train. Now I have to transcribe it and add in the descriptions and sceanic stuff. I bought my own copy of The Lord of the Rings in COSCO on Friday. I have read a number of chapters so far. It has been years since I read it. I have forgotten so much. Tolkien's use of the english language is incredible. Makes me feel illiterate.
